Experienced in undertaking ecological clerk of works during habitat clearance and finding practical solutions to constraints, that keep costs down, while creating opportunities for wildlife. I have developed a thorough understanding of current legislation and good practice guidelines, particularly in relation to bats and development. Assisted in the planning and implementation of advanced bat survey techniques for complex, large developments that could have landscape level impacts with field skills encompassing trapping and radio tracking of bats across complex landscapes. Capable of undertaking climbed inspections of trees for bats, as well as inspections of structures that require confined spaces training. Hold class survey licences for great crested newts and beavers. Passionate about conservation and biodiversity. Interested in working closely with clients to achieve benefits to wildlife while ensuring a pragmatic approach that is appropriate, effective and proportionate. Strive to achieve benefits for both client and the natural environment.
Georgie Baulcomb - Senior Ecologist
After completing a Masters course at the University of Reading in 2015 I started my career in ecology and haven't looked back! I have been in the ecology sector ever since, working with a range of clients on a variety of different projects from small homeowner developments to largescale infrastructure. I have personal class licences allowing me to lead surveys for bats, great crested newts and barn owls, but my main interests lie in bird surveys and GIS mapping. I would still class myself as a generalist and as such I have a lot of experience with UK habitat surveys as well as protected species including bats, badgers, birds, dormice, reptiles, water voles and amphibians.
I really enjoy my work here at Co-ecology, we have a great team based in East Sussex who are all enthusiastic about wildlife and like-minded when it comes to ecology.
